If you're using Word's Track Changes tool, you'll need to accept or reject all changes on your resume and save the document to your computer before uploading. Resumes that contain viruses are not accepted.
Q: What happens when I upload my resume?Top
A: When you upload your resume, it will create a UP automatically for you. Once you have uploaded your resume, you'll be able to make changes to your UP.
Q: How long does it take to create my UP?Top
A: If you were invited to the Talent Exchange via an Oracle | Taleo employer, most of your resume information will already exist in the Talent Exchange. If you use this capability, creating your profile will take only a couple minutes.
Q: Why do you need my contact information?Top
A: Your email address is your UP ID. Your contact info is what gets submitted to employers when you apply for their jobs or when a employer finds you.
Q: Should I contact the Talent Exchange to inquire about a job?Top
A: If you are trying to check on the status of a job application with a specific employer, please refer your question(s) back to the employer you applied with. Talent Exchange can't provide you with information on your application because we are only the search engine providing the results, not the actual company doing the hiring for a specific job listing.
Q: How do I look for a job on Talent Exchange?Top
A: Looking for a job on Talent Exchange is quite easy.
  • 1. Enter some keywords (job title, company, occupation) in the keyword field.
  • 2. Enter a location (city, state or zip).
  • 3. Click "Search Jobs." You will be brought to a results page after hitting the search button. If you are getting too many jobs, simply use the filters on the left to narrow down your choices.
  • 4. If you see a job you are interested in, simply click the link for the job & follow the directions for applying found within the listing.

Note: Talent Exchange is not the hiring company for jobs on our site. Please do not send resumes and/or contact us for information on the status of an application. You should direct your inquiry directly to the hiring company if you have additional questions.
Q: How do I apply for a job?Top
A: Please click the job title and follow the directions for applying in the selected listing. For jobs where we can locate the application page, we show an "Apply Now" button that will take you straight there. If you have questions about an application you've submitted, you should contact the employer directly.
Q: Should I contact Talent Exchange to inquire about a job? Top
A: Not unless the job in question happens to be with the Talent Exchange. Otherwise, we're the search engine, not the hiring company. To follow up on an application, contact the company you're applying to directly. They'll appreciate your initiative, and unlike us, they'll know the status of your application.
Q: How do I look for a job with a specific title? Top
A: If you want to look for a job with a specific title, simply put "title:" in front of the job title in the keywords area. While doing a keyword search will often return many results that are similar in nature, doing so can also mean that the search engine will look for it in the description as well (in other words, you may pull listings that have "Employer", "service" & "manager" somewhere in the job description that aren't actual Employer Service Manager jobs.
Example using 'Employer Service Manager'
Q: How can I view jobs by location, occupation or industry? Top
A: Use our browse feature to show all the job listings related to a specific industry, job title or geographic area, or any combination of these items.
Q: How do I search for a job with a specific company? Top
A: If you know that you are looking for a job with a specific company, simply put "company:" in front of the company name in the keyword area. While putting in a company name without company: in the keywords area will often lead to the correct results, you may actually get listings not related to actual company if you are using a company that has a common identifier ("General Motors" for example, might pull listings from General Motors & General Electric because the word "general" is in the listing).

Q: What is Oracle | Taleo's role in the hiring process? Top
A: Providing technology solutions to automate and improve common recruitment tasks such as resume submission, applicant tracking, pre-screening and assessment, task and activity tracking, interview scheduling, offer management and new hire onboarding. Provide consulting support to help the hiring company efficiently configure Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution to their business requirements and specific hiring processes. Provide customer support to the hiring company's HR and IT teams (not to candidates directly). Oracle | Taleo does not have any authority on the hiring company's recruiting process or recruiting decisions of the hiring company.
Q: Why does Oracle | Taleo not support candidates directly? Top
A: The data entered by candidates applying for jobs at hiring companies using Taleo software is the property of that company. Hiring companies support all candidate and applicant contact. Taleo only supports directly the companies using Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution.

The hiring company - not Taleo - is the owner of the system's configuration and data. The hiring company - not Taleo - has access to your application or any of your personal information. This prevents Taleo from being able to assist you directly. To receive assistance, please contact the company where you are applying. If you do not see contact information on their website, please contact the company directly and ask for the Human Resources department. We suggest that you ask for assistance regarding your online job application.

Hiring Company
Q: What is the hiring company's role?Top
A: Overall, the hiring company is the owner of the recruitment process. Taleo does not play any role in the hiring process decision making. The hiring company uses Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution as a toolbox.
Here are some examples of what the hiring company does with Oracle | Taleo, just to name a few.

Create and configure the application workflow:

  • How many pages/steps are there in the application workflow?
  • What questions appear on the application workflow?
  • How many questions are there?
  • How many files can a user upload?
  • Can a user delete an uploaded file?

Decide how the information is parsed and sorted to identify the best candidates.
Decide how many and what assessments the candidates need to take.
Decide which candidates receive an interview invitation.
Decide which candidates get hired.

Q: How can I reach the HR Department of the hiring company? Top
A: Oracle | Taleo is not authorized to provide the hiring company contact information to the candidates. Filling in the online application is a very effective way of quickly getting your information and resume to the right people within the organization. If you need an email address or fax or telephone number, please use the company's corporate website to try and find the information you are looking for.
Oracle | Taleo Recruiting
Q: How does Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution work?Top
A: The company who purchases the Oracle | Taleo recruiting solution - the hiring company - pretty much decides how they want the application to work.

Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution is a highly flexible application and can be configured in many different ways. Just like a company who builds their own recruiting solution can decide how they want it to work out.

For these reasons, career sections or application workflows may be very different from one company to another, even if they both use Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution.

Q: How do I apply for a job? Top
A: If you wish to apply to a position or send a general profile, you have to visit the online career section of the company where you wish to apply located on their main corporate website.
Q: How do I use Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution?Top
A: Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution is built to enable the hiring company to add useful tips directly in the career site and the application workflow. Beyond this valuable information, here are some tips when using Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution:

Because the hiring company uses Taleo to store the information you enter at each step, you must be sure to use the "Continue" or other buttons within the page and NOT the browser BACK and FORWARD buttons. Indeed, these browser buttons interrupt the application process and may cause you to lose valuable data you have entered. If you have been using the BACK and FORWARD browser buttons while applying, please close your browser, restart the application, and be sure to use ONLY the CONTINUE buttons within the actual web pages.

Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution may require new browser windows to open. We recommend the user turns off any pop-up blocker when using the application.

Q: Can two people use the same email address to apply?Top
A: The company where you are applying can select to allow several candidates to use the same email or not. If you cannot register a new candidate because there is already another candidate using the same address, it means that this company decided that the email address is used as a unique identifier. We suggest one person obtains a new email address from a service like Hotmail, GMail, etc.
Q: What is a general profile?Top
A: By completing a general candidate profile, you can save time when applying to multiple jobs and avoid re-typing your information for each job application. The information you provide for your general candidate profile will automatically be transferred to other applications when you apply to a job on this site.
Q: How do I update my job application?Top
A: In time, you may wish to update your candidate profile or update a job application. Please note that any changes to your general candidate profile will be reflected in your future job applications, but will not be reflected in PRIOR job applications.

To update a specific job application:
Log into the Career Section using the login and password you originally provided. In the list of jobs, select a job, click the "View/Edit Submission", link and then add, change, or remove information as necessary. (Please note that if the position has already been filled or is no longer available, you will not be able to change your application.)

To update your general candidate profile:
Log into your Candidate Profiler using the user name and password you originally provided and update accordingly.

Q: How can I get a status update on an application?Top
A: Oracle | Taleo does not have access to job specific or application specific information. If you have questions about the status of an application, please contact the Human Resources department of the organization where you applied.

If the job is still available, you can log in as a returning user and see your prior applications in the "My Job Page". The fields will be populated with the information that was received by the organization where you applied.

Q: Why do I have to enter my resume information in fields and also upload a copy of my resume? Top
A: The hiring company decides how they configure Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution. They can decide what fields the user needs to enter and if the user can upload a resume. They also decide how this information is used as part of the recruiting process.

For example, many companies configure Oracle | Taleo's recruiting application so that a user needs to enter, in fields, information that is usually already contained in a resume. In the same application workflow, the hiring company may later ask the user to upload a copy of a resume. This could be done to enable the hiring company to filter, parse and make business decisions based on the information entered in the fields. As for a paper copy of the resume, it is often asked to provide to the hiring manager prior to an interview.

Q: Why is the application questionnaire so long?Top
A: Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution is highly configurable and the hiring company adjusts the application workflow according to their needs. Some hiring companies will ask the user to enter much information because they need it in order to appropriately make recruiting decisions.

If you feel that the application workflow is too long or contains an issue, you should contact the HR department of the hiring company. Make your communication structured with pertinent suggestions.

Q: How do I update an attached file?Top
A: You can attach a file with the exact same name as the file you previously attached. The system will overwrite the old file.
Q: How do I change my Talent Exchange password?Top
A: You can use the "Forgot your password" functionality. You can also go into the "My Account Options" page and edit the "Login Information".
Q: Where does the information I enter in Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution go?Top
A: Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution works under a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. All the data a user enters is stored in the hiring company's section of Taleo's multi-tenant data centers in highly secured databases. However, as Oracle | Taleo is providing a service to the hiring company, the data entered by the users belongs to the hiring company and does not belong to Oracle | Taleo. Therefore, Oracle | Taleo does not have access to the company's system configuration or data. Furthermore, Oracle | Taleo does not have access to your application, your password, or any of your other personal information. This prevents us from being able to assist you directly.
Q: How is the information I enter in Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution used?Top
A: The hiring company can decide to filter candidates in any way they want. As they would while reviewing regular resumes, they can decide to discard candidates who do not have the needed experience or education level. The information a user enters is owned by the hiring company. They use it at their discretion, just as would be the case for a career website that does not use Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution.
Q: Why do I have to re-enter my information for every company that uses Oracle | Taleo?Top
A: Many companies use Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution. But they do not share the data. Each company career site using Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution feeds information to a separate database. Much like sending a resume to a company using the postal system, a user must submit information at each career site where they apply.

However, to improve this situation, Taleo has created the Universal Profile on the Talent Exchange that enables users to streamline the application process by importing your basic information into the hiring company's application workflow. The hiring company that uses Taleo may choose or not choose to activate this feature on their career site.

Q: How can I delete my candidate file from your system?Top
A: If you wish to have your candidate profile deleted, please contact the Human Resources department of the company where you applied.Oracle | Taleo does not have access to your profile and is therefore unable to modify candidate files. You can also access your account and deactivate it in the "My Account" options.
Q: How do I stop receiving email notifications for positions matching my profile?Top
A: When you submit your candidate profile or apply on a specific job, you may choose to be notified by email of future job openings corresponding to your candidate profile. If you select this option, you will be notified of job openings that match the candidate profile you created. This box may be checked by default when you submit your profile.

If you do not want to receive email notifications, log in to your candidate profile using your user name (email address) and password and then clear the check box.

Q: I was referred and how do I add or modify information?Top
A: You may receive correspondence to choose a password and will be allowed to access the career section once to add or modify the information in your candidate profile. You can access your candidate profile by visiting the Career Section of the company where you were referred. Please find the corporate website of this company and follow the links to the Career Section.

If it was a job specific referral, click the "Sign in" link in the top right corner and sign in with your user name and password. If this is the first time you have logged in you will be forced to change your user name and password and click My Job Page. Here you will see the job you were referred to. The next time you wish to modify your application, you must go back to the website and click Access My Profile and use the new user name and password.

Q: How can I change my email address?Top
A: In order to change your email address, you must access your personal information in a Candidate Profile or a Job Specific Application. Go to the login page and enter as a returning user using your old email address.

On the Personal Information page, enter your new email address in the Email Address field, and then click the Continue button at the bottom of the page. This new email address is now your new user name that you may use on your next visit.

Q: What browsers are supported by Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution?Top
A: Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution latest version supports most of the latest browsers and operating systems. The technical requirements for Oracle |Taleo's recruiting solution are very dependent on which version of the application is used by the hiring company. However, some companies prefer to stay with an older version instead of migrating to a newer version of Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution.

For these reasons, some of the latest browser versions or OS versions might not be supported by the career site of a hiring company where you are applying. For these same reasons, there is unfortunately not a single list of technical requirements for all the companies using Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution.

To minimize browser related issues, a workstation equipped with Microsoft Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7 should be compatible with most career sites. For more details on the technical requirements for a specific career site, please contact the hiring company. Indeed, the hiring company knows which version of Taleo's recruiting solution they are using and have access to the detailed requirements.

Q: Why didn't I find the answer I was looking for?Top
A: We are sorry that you didn't find the answer you were looking for. For further assistance, please contact the company where you are applying. The hiring company will be able to assist you or log a ticket with Oracle | Taleo's customer support.
Troubleshooting Recruiting Product
Q: My account is locked. What can I do?Top
A: Your account can be locked after several unsuccessful attempts are made to login with your user name and the wrong password. The hiring company decides how much time a locked account is inaccessible. This value can be between 2 minutes and never. Most companies configure the system to unlock itself after 15 minutes. However, some companies can configure Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution so that a locked account will not automatically unlock itself. Therefore, if your account has been locked for more than a day, please contact the Human Resources department of the company where you applied.
Q: Can I delete a file I have uploaded?Top
A: The hiring company may configure Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution to allow you to delete your attachments or not. If the hiring company activated this feature, you should see the delete button below the attachment box. If this button is not present, then it is not possible for you to delete an attached file. If you still want files deleted from your record, you will need to contact the HR department of the company where you applied.
Q: What should I do if I received an application error?Top
A: We apologize for the inconvenience. Many issues will be resolved by simply exiting the application and opening a new session. If this does not solve the issue, please contact the company where you applied as many issues are due to improper configuration of the Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution and can be fixed by the hiring company. To help them resolve your issue, please describe the problem in detail including circumstances and actions leading up to the error with screenshots. If the hiring company cannot solve your issue, they will log a ticket with Oracle | Taleo's Customer Support and follow up with you.
Q: What if I cannot complete the tax survey questionnaire?Top
A: Tax surveys are supported by 3rd parties. Therefore, this issue is often due to an incorrect configuration of Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution by the hiring company or from a 3rd party issue. Please contact the hiring company so they can make the changes and resolve the issue.
Q: What if I cannot see the information correctly on the career site?Top
A: If your browser does not read the Career Section properly, you may need to empty your Temporary Internet Files (or cache). You can also make sure that you have the required software and that you can navigate correctly through the application.
Q: What should I do if I get an error when attaching a file?Top
A: This issue may be caused by one of the following:
  • The file you are uploading contains JavaScript.
  • The file you are uploading has a size that is bigger than the maximum size limit. The maximum size limit is configured by the hiring company.

If you are unable to upload a file, please contact the company where you applied. They will be able to upload your file and attach it to your profile.

Q: What if I get an error when attaching my resume in the parsing tool?Top
A: This issue may be caused by one of the following:
  • Your resume contains JavaScript.
  • Your resume is in an unsupported format. For example, ".docx" is only supported on recent versions of the application, which the hiring company may not have yet.

If you are unable to upload your resume, please contact the company where you applied. They will be able to upload your resume and attach it to your profile.

Q: I receive an email to schedule an interview, but cannot log in. What can I do?Top
A: This issue is due to an incorrect configuration of Oracle | Taleo's recruiting solution. Please contact the hiring company so they can make the changes and resolve the issue or log a ticket with Oracle | Taleo's Customer Support to resolve the issue.
Q: I cannot upload another file. Why? Top
A: Each company using Oracle | Taleo determines the maximum number of files a user can upload in order to manage storage capacity. If the maximum number of files has been reached, you can try deleting or updating a file you've uploaded.
Q: Why did I not receive a confirmation of my application? Top
A: Your information goes directly to the company where you are applying. There are two reasons why you may not have received a confirmation of your application:
  • 1. The company does not acknowledge the receipt of applications. Indeed, this is a configurable option within the Oracle | Taleo application.
  • 2. You have updated your application. You will not receive a second acknowledgement confirming your update. Only one acknowledgement is sent for each position for which you have applied. You could select the job offer again and log back into the system as a returning user. All the information that was saved for your application will populate the fields and therefore you can see what was sent.
Q: What if the security code I received is invalid? Top
A: If the security code you received to change your password is invalid, it may have expired or has been invalidated by your email software settings. First, open the web page attached to the message you received and try again by clicking on the link provided. If this fails, request a new security code by going to the application or profile login page, enter your email address or user name and click "Forgot password?". You will receive a new security code.
Q: What if I received an acknowledgment, but did not complete the application? Top
A: The company decided to acknowledge the application when you reached or completed a specific page. You can still add information to your application if the job is still posted, but you will not receive another acknowledgement.
Q: What if I received a job posting notification, but the job is no longer available? Top
A: It is possible that the recruiter decided on posting the job only for a short period of time. That is why you received this message.
Q: What should I do if I received a Request for More Information (RMI)? Top
A: You received the RMI email because the company wants you to provide more information now that you meet certain criteria. We understand that these fields were not mandatory when you first applied, but please provide the information requested. If you already went back to your application and provided the necessary information, simply disregard the message.
Q: What can I do if I received an email asking me to provide my EEO information even if I did so in a previous application? Top
A: The information collected for the reports intended for the US Employment Equity Department should be completed on every job application in case your situation has changed.
Q: What if I am unable to modify the EEO information for a specific position? Top
A: Some actions done by recruiters while reviewing your application might make the EEO page no longer available. Usually, if needed, recruiters contact candidates by email to invite them to provide any information missing in the EEO page on a voluntary basis. So it might be normal for a specific application that the EEO page could no longer be accessed from your end.
Q: What if I do not remember my password? Top
A: When you have forgotten your password, you will need to use the "Forgot your password" function to change your password. Simply click the "Forgot your password" link. After entering your user name and your email address, you will receive a Change Password email. Open this email and follow the instructions. If you are having problems with the link, please open the attachment sent with the email and try again. • This candidate already exists in the company's database and the company will not allow the referral of known candidates.
  • Another person has already referred this candidate.
  • In this case, you cannot refer this individual.

Q: What should I do if I was logged out when referring a candidate and did not have time to finish? Top
A: Once you have left the Career Section, your referral is the only person who can update his or her candidate file. The candidate may receive correspondence to choose a password and will be allowed to access the Career Section once to modify the information.
Q: How do I make myself searchable in Talent Exchange? Top
A: You can mark yourself as searchable by changing this status directly on your Universal Profile or in your account settings. If you are unable to change this status it is because you have not validated your email with us. You will see a bright yellow bar at the top of the screen with a message indicating you have not validated your email with us. We need you to validate your email address so our hiring companies are able to contact you. You can resend this validation email to yourself by selecting the resend link in the bright yellow bar at the top of the screen.
